Catherine C. Gennett Reichard, 96

Troy - Catherine C. Gennett Reichard, 96, of Hawthorne Ridge East Greenbush died Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Cohoes, she was daughter of the late Victor Gennett and Katherine Toohey Gennett and wife of the late Reginald 'Buster' Reichard. She was raised in North Albany and Menands, resided in Troy from 1937-68 and in Wynantskill for over 36 years. She was a graduate of Albany High School class of 1933.

Mrs. Reichard was a homemaker and for many years was corporate secretary of Hastings & Company in Troy.

She was a member of the Altar rosary society of Sacred Heart Church and St. Jude's Church and the Red Hat Society in Wynantskill. She was active in the Hilltop Home Bureau and for many years was President of the PTA at School15 in Troy.

Survivors include two sons, John V. (Marilyn) Reichard, Troy and David J. (Darlene) Reichard, town of Florida, NY; two daughters, Katherine M. (Anthony) Chismark, Bedford, NH and M. Debra (Michael) Hand, Foxboro, MA; six grandchildren, Alicia Candlen, Steven Reichard, Margaret Heitkamp, A. David, and Evan Chismark and Gennett Canfield; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan A. Reichard,; a brother, Victor Gennett and a sister, Mildred Davis.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Wednesday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 9 AM at the funeral home and at 9:30 AM at St. Henry's Church Old Route 66 Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Interment will be in Sand Lake Union Cemetery Sand Lake.
