Catherine A. Carter

East Greenbush - Catherine A. Carter, 63, of Plaza Avenue died Sunday, November 8, 2015, at her residence after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Richard S. Carter and Catherine Fitzgerald Carter. She was raised in Troy and resided in Albany prior to moving to Governors Square East in East Greenbush in1995.  She was a graduate of Sacred Heart School, Catholic Central High School class of 1970 and earned her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Niagara University in 1974. 

Cathy was a nursing instructor at Ellis Hospital School of Nursing for 6 years retiring in 2008.  She was previously a Staff Nurse, Head Nurse, Director of Nursing and a member of the Board of Ethics at Ellis Hospital. Cathy's Nursing career began at Ellis Hospital in 1974.  

She was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy and its Parish Nurse and active in the Perpetual Adoration at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel at St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh.  Cathy was always there for people in need and she knitted prayer shawls for  people who needed to be comforted by prayer for many years.  

Survivors include a brother, Edward John (Carmen) Carter, Villa Park, CA; a sister, Barbara Carter (Don) De Lapp, Troy; her nieces and nephews,  Lauryn Taylor Carter, Morgan and Ashley Moore and Daniel, Alexandra, Jarrett, Dominica and Emily Dayton. 

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 4-7 PM. 

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 AM at the funeral home and at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John  Yanas, Pastor.

Interment  will be in  St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Catherine A. Carter Our Lady of Perpetual Help Adoration Chapel St. Augustines Church,  25 - 115th Street Troy, NY 12182.
