Poestenkill - Carl W. Weinbrecht, 86, of Route 351 died suddenly Friday, July 16, 2010, at his residence.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Edward G. Weinbrecht and Ina Fellows Weinbrecht. He had resided in Poestenkill most of his life and was a graduate of Troy High School and Troy Business College.
Mr. Weinbrecht retired from the Support Collection Unit of the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services in 1988 and prior to that he worked at Simmons Machine in Menands for 28 years in the accounting department.
He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Poestenkill and Sgt. Walter Adams American Legion Post # 1021 in Averill Park and Sullivan- Jones Veteran's of Foreign Wars Memorial Association in Poestenkill. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II.
Survivors include cousins, Marge and John Pakan of Matthews, NC; a Godson, Dwight Pakan of Charlotte and great cousins, Dwight and Thomas Pakan and a longtime friend, Ellen Lewis of Troy. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward G. Weinbrecht Jr.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Stephen Cordes, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-6.
Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
