Beverly J. Meyer Witkowski, 82

Troy Beverly J. Meyer Witkowski, 82 ,a lifelong resident of Troy, died Monday, May 2, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a long and brave battle with diabetes.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Meyer Sr. and Jane (Pickett) Meyer and wife of the late Edward C. Witkowski.

She had resided, for a time, at the W.E. Gerling Complex of Union College. Ed was Superintendent of the Physical Plant at Union College. Beverly was educated at Troy schools and a graduate of Troy High School.

Beverly was a supervisor over several departments at Montgomery Ward in Menands for over forty years where she made lifelong friends with Helen Diemer and Alice Carter who are now in their 90's. She also was a long time friend of Doris DesLauriers who was a neighbor for many years. They enjoyed dining out, and finding new places where they could go.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Troy, as well as a Deacon of the church where she served until illness set in.

She is survived by three brothers George E. Meyer (Ilsa) of Winter Haven, FL, John William Meyer (Marilyn) of Wynantskill and James H. Meyer (Lynn) of Troy and several nieces and nephews, Janet Bastiani (Raul), Peter Meyer, Ricky Meyer, Kim (Meyer) Melhem, Sharen (Meyer) Holcomb and John, Lawrence, Kevin and Robert Meyer and Deborah McKever and many grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Ernest H. Meyer Jr. (Doris).

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the First United Presbyterian Church of Troy 1915 Fifth Avenue Troy with Rev. Alexandra Lusak, Pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Wednesday from 3-7 PM. Interment Memory's Garden in Colonie.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Beverly Witkowski to the First United Presbyterian Church of Troy Deacon's Fund 1915 Fifth Avenue Troy, NY 12180 or the Charity of ones choice.
