Welcome to the memorial page for

Beverly E. Cook

September 5, 1940 ~ April 12, 2016 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Brunswick - Beverly E. Cook, 75, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Samaritan Hospital after a long and beautiful life.  She lived her life full of devotion to her beloved family and friends; and graced by the practice of her extraordinary faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ.  Beverly wholeheartedly believed in the words of Our Lord, expressed in Ephesians 2:8-9, which says “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. Not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” In her gracious obedience to God she chose to live a life of service to others and to the church. Her life is further exemplified in Ephesians 2:10: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”   Beverly was dearly adored and loved by many in equal measure to the love and devotion that she so freely showered on all her family and friends.

Beverly was daughter of the late Marsden A. Cook and Ethel M. Minkwitz Cook. She was born and raised in Troy, moving to Owego, NY after marriage where she lived for twelve years, returning in 1982 to reside in Troy for the rest of her life. Beverly was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, earned her Bachelor's degree from Russell Sage College in Biology and her Master's degree from the State University of New York at Albany in Library Science.

She was a highly skilled Medical Librarian, employed for fifteen years at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, and for fifteen years at St. Mary's Hospital, before retiring in 2011. She also enjoyed working with students at the libraries of Russell Sage College.

Beverly was an active member for thirty years of the Brunswick Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, volunteered for the food pantry, participated in Bible studies, and in many other vital ministries. She was an expert knitter, gardener, and seamstress; a lover of classical music and played the violin.  Also, she devoted years to the care and agility training of a beloved border collie rescue.

Beverly is survived by her three children, Raymond E. Greene and Sarah (Gabriel) Parrales, both of Brunswick and Jeffrey E. (Lynn) Greene, of Cato, NY; her four grandchildren, Gloria, Mikayla, Emma, and Jordan; her brother David M. (Cynthia) Cook; and her nephews, Brian and Nathan Cook.

Relatives and friends may call at the Brunswick Presbyterian Church, 42 White Church Lane in Troy on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 10 - 11AM prior to the service at 11AM with Rev. Elizabeth Shen O'Connor, Pastor of Brunswick Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Brunswick.
