North Greenbush - Betty Joyce Roy Turner, 74, of Hampton Place Blvd died Monday, February 12, 2018, at her residence after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Roland Charles Roy, Sr. and Julia Robinson Roy and former wife of William H. Haupt, Sr. She had resided in the Troy area all her life and was a 1961 graduate of Averill Park High School.
Betty was a Driver Improvement Examiner for the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany for 30 years retiring 15 years ago.
She was a proud member of the breakfast club at Carol's Place on Pawling Avenue in Troy.
Survivors in addition to her former husband include her children,Joann (Michael) Scott, Ellington, CT, Tracey Heacox, Watervliet, William H. (Kelly) Haupt, Jr., Wynantskill and Wayne H. Haupt, Sr., Averill Park; a sister, Ruth (Ronald) Schrom, Liverpool, NY; a sister-in-law, Alice Roy, Wynantskill; a brother-in-law, Richard Miller, Troy; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Alfred Babcock, Richard J. Babcock, Roland Roy Jr., Barbara Miller and Carole Coffey.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 4-7 PM with a funeral service to follow at 7 PM with Rev. Karyl Hopp, Pastor of Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in New Rural Cemetery in Rensselaer in the spring.
