Bette M. (Bette Mae) Gardner

Averill Park - Bette M. (Bette Mae) Gardner nee Wittman, age 90, passed away on November 12, 2009.

She was the only child born to the late Carl and Barbara (Hart) Wittman, on July 26, 1919.

Bette was a life-long resident of Averill Park who graduated from Averill Park High School and Mildred Elly.

She retired in 1998 after 23 years with Diet Workshop. Previously she had worked for APHS, A.B.Dick Co., The Albany Lettershop, The Advertiser, and Alchar Printing.

Bette was predeceased by her husband Ernest in 1967. She leaves behind her son, Gregg, and daughter, Dianne and son-in-law, Joseph Sabatino. She is also survived by a grandson, Edward McQuade, Sr. (Sandra), and their children, Edward II (Candace) and Katie; great great grandchildren, Edward III and Evalynn Rose, all from Texas. She is also survived by her godchild, Kathleen Wheeler (John) and family, many cousins, and friends.

Bette was a member of "Friends of Jesus" at St. Henry's Church for many years. Special thanks to all those from Hospice, Theodore Zeltner, M.D. and Thomas Schumacher, D.O. for their care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 17th at 9:30 am at St Henry's Church Old Route 66 Averill Park.

Relatives and friends may call at the CHURCH Monday from 4-7 pm.
