Troy - Bert T. Ashley Jr., 86, of Bouton Road Troy died Friday, July 8, 2011, peacefully at his residence.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Bert T. Ashley Sr. and Julia O'Hara Ashley and husband of Cyrilla Garvey Ashley. He had resided for 43 years in Green Island and the past 43 years in Troy, was a graduate of LaSalle Institute, attended Holy Cross College under the Navy V-12 program and earned a Bachelor's degree from Siena College.

Mr. Ashley was a certified public accountant and a certified internal auditor for the Federal Highway Administration before retiring with 30 years of service.

He was a member of the Lansingburgh American Legion and the Holy Names Society of St. Joseph's Church. Bert enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, tennis and horse racing. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Bert T. (Melissa) Ashley III, Troy, Robert M. (Darlene) Ashley, Troy, Ann Margaret Ashley, Troy, Eugene P. (Jacquelyn) Ashley , Troy and Cyrilla S. Ashley, Troy; 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday from 3-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30AM at the funeral home and at 11AM at St. Anthony Shrine Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery Waterford.
