Bernice Olive Houghton Coates, 87

Glenville-Bernice Olive Houghton Coates, 87, died Sunday, March 5, 2006 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.

Born in East Greenbush, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Houghton and Grace (Sharp) Houghton and wife of the late George Cameron Coates.

She had resided in Fayetteville, Syracuse, Lansingburgh and the past 12 years in Schenectady and was educated at Troy High School and Albany Business College.

Mrs. Coates was employed as a secretary for Senator Hastings many years ago.

She is survived by a niece, Nancy Coates Wingate of Charlottesville, VA; a great niece, Michelle E. Wamsley (Jonathan) of Louisa, VA; a great nephew, Michael J. Wingate of Columbus, OH and a great great niece, Olivia G. Wamsley.

The funeral service was held Friday, March 10, 2006 at the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany with the interment in Bloomingrove Cemetery in Defreestville.
