Beatrice E. Vanderpool Bonesteel, 98

Troy Beatrice E. Vanderpool Bonesteel, 98, of Gene Avenue, died Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at Van Rensselaer Manor North Greenbush.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Frank W. and Effie Mae Cipperly Vanderpool and wife of the late Lester Bonesteel and was educated in Troy schools.

Mrs. Bonesteel was employed at Jacobsens, Cluett Peabody & Company and the Young Folks Shop.

She enjoyed bowling for over 50 years and was a member of the Troy Police PBA (formerly Albia Mixed), Alpha Women and Hi-Way Leisurettes bowling leagues. Bea served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Leisurettes League for 32 years and instructed Junior Bowling at Hi-Way Recreation in Wynantskill for several years. She was a member of Troy Women's Bowling Association serving on the Board of Directors, was a Delegate to State Bowling Conventions and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1983. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and knitting dishcloths.

Bea was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Pawling Avenue Methodist Church in Troy.

Survivors include one daughter, Gail R. Teal and her husband Howard of Troy; her daughter-in-law, Margaret Bonesteel of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister, Friede Goerold of Wynantskill; a brother, Winstan Vanderpool of Plantation, Florida; 4 grandchildren, M. Susan Bonesteel, Donald W. Bonesteel Jr. of Arizona, Taryn L. Duncan and Craig M. Duncan; 4 great grandchildren; Donald W. Bonesteel III, Mykel Bonesteel, Maggie Bonesteel all of Arizona and Tyler Anne Duncan of East Greenbush and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and dear friends Katie Steen, Ann DeLap and Barbara Ann Carrol. She was predeceased by a son, Donald W. Bonesteel and two brothers, Walter and Donald Vanderpool.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy with Rev. Peter Kelly, Pastor of the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4-8pm. Interment Memory's Garden in Colonie.
