North Greenbush - Barbara M. DeFreest Peabody, 58, of Winter Street Extension died Tuesday September 9, 2008 at her residence after a long illness.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of M. Dudley DeFreest of North Greenbush and the late Evelyn (Wehnau) DeFreest and wife of Michael Peabody for 30 years. She resided in the same home on Winter Street Extension all her life.
She was a Messenger Coordinator for the New York State Legislature for over 23 years, retiring in 2002.
A long time member of the Blooming Grove Reformed Church, a 4-H leader, she loved ceramics, cake decorating and the out of doors including camping, boating and Paradox Lake vacations.
Survivors in addition to her husband and father include her children, Theresa (Doug Tobin) Mugrace of North Greenbush, Lisa (Martin) Mahar of East Greenbush, Mario (Laura) Mugrace of Schodack and Jenny (Adam Crofoot) Mugrace of Keene Valley; a step son, Brian Peabody of Sarasota, FL; eight grandchildren, Bethany, Justin and Derek Tobin, Carina, Farron and Bailey Mahar, Aden and Kylie Mugrace; two step grandchildren, Kara Lescarbeau and Nicholas Peabody and her beloved dog, Ruebin.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 7:00 PM at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake with Rev. Carl Hiemstra, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7 PM prior to the service. A private family interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery Troy.
