Arvon T. 'Pat' Owens

West Sand Lake - Arvon T. ‘Pat’ Owens, 84, of Middle Court died Saturday, January 10, 2015, at his residence after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Arvon Owens and Ruth Williams Owens and husband for 58 years of  Barbara  Stiles Owens. He was raised in Lansingburgh and had resided in West Sand Lake since 1956 and was a 1950 graduate of Lansingburgh High School. 

Pat was owner, operator and Dental Technician of Arvon Dental Lab in West Sand Lake for 50 years, retiring 19 years ago.  His CB handle for many years was 'The Tooth Fairy'.   

His real joy and satisfaction was chopping, splitting and stacking wood.  Pat loved to fish for trout and have coffee while hanging with the 'boys' at Doby's in West Sand Lake. He was an Air Force veteran of the  Korean War. 

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Scott T. (Maureen) Owens, West Sand Lake; a daughter, Terri L. Owens, East Greenbush; four grandchildren, Sean  and Lauren Owens and Kelli and Megan Bailey all of West Sand Lake; a niece, Sandra McAvoy; his brothers-in-law, Donald and Thomas Stiles and Carlton Hughes and his sisters-in-law, Judith Hughes and Elaine and Sandra Stiles. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen McAvoy. 

Funeral service private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Pat Owens to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard Rensselaer, NY 12144.
