Anna D. Pakan

Syracuse, NY - Anna D. Pakan passed away on January 9, 2007 in Syracuse, N.Y. after a long illness.

She was born September 15, 1917 in Little Falls, N.Y., daughter of the late Samuel and Susan Devan, and sister of the late Stephen and Amelia Devan

She married Walter S. Pakan on July 5, 1943 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Poestenkill, N.Y., where they lived for many years and were both active members of the Church and enjoyed many local community activities.

She moved with her family to Hyde Park, N.Y. in 1961, where she and Walter became loyal, active members of the First Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie, and lived happily until he passed away in 1990. She then moved to Syracuse N.Y. to live near her son Robert and his family.

She enjoyed sight-seeing, gardening, crocheting and reading, but most of all she enjoyed taking care of her home and spending time with her family.

Survived by son Robert Pakan, daughter-in-law Donna (Yambrick); and grandsons Jonathan (J.R.) and Robert of Syracuse, N.Y., and Stephen Pakan of Quincy, Mass.; also survived by daughter Mildred of Westwood, MA , and granddaughters Kristine Sivacek of Westwood and Susan Devlin of Quincy, Mass., as well as great-grandson Jack Devlin of Quincy. Also survived by nephews Steve Devan of Poestenkill, N.Y. and Dwight Pakan of Charlotte, N.C., and brother-and-sister-in-law John and Marge Pakan, formerly of Clifton Park, N.Y., now residing in North Carolina; and also survived by sister-in-law Ann Devan of Poestenkill, NY. In addition, is survived by a niece and nephew as well as grand-nieces and grand-nephews living near Prague in the Czech Republic.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy, NY with Rev. Stephen Cordes, officiating.

Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.

Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Pakan to St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 5108 W. Genesee Street, Camillus, NY 13031.
