Ann Swensson Sharke, 90

Cohoes - Ann Swensson Sharke, 90, of Eddy Village Green Cohoes and formerly of Troy died Friday, December 2, 2011, at Eddy Village Green after a long illness.

Born in Brunswick, she was daughter of the late Otto J. Swensson and Ethel Belle Swensson and wife of the late Karl G E Sharke. She had resided in the Troy area all her life and was a graduate of Emma Willard School class of 1939 and Lesley University in Cambridge, MA and earned her Bachelor's degree from State University of New York Oneonta.

Mrs. Sharke was employed as a Patient Representative for Samaritan Hospital for over 10 years.

She was a Past President and sustaining member of the Junior League of Troy, Past President and Life Member of the Ilium Literary Club, Past President and member of the Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, former member of the Woman's Club of Troy, a former board member of the Troy YWCA, chairman of the Camp YoWoCAs Committee and a board member of the former James A. Eddy Foundation. Ann also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and volunteered with many organizations including 21,000 hours at Samaritan Hospital beginning in high school and at Public TV WMHT especially during auction time. The family wishes to especially thank the Eddy Village Green and the House 7 staff for their help the past 2 years.

Survivors include two devoted daughters, Kirsten S. (Rev. Pierre) Albrecht-Carrie`, North Tonawanda, NY and Ingrid Sharke, Green Island ; her grandchildren, Elan (John) Fitzgerald, Grand Island, NY and Ethan A. (Cristy) Albrecht-Carrie`, Philadelphia, PA. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph L. Swensson.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday, December 16, 2011 from 3-7 PM with a memorial service following at 7 PM with her son-in-law, Rev. Pierre Albrecht-Carrie`, officiating.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Ann Swensson Sharke to the Eddy Village Green Elders Fund of House #7, 7 Pasinella Way Cohoes, NY 12047.
