Ann Lou Ager Klope, 87

Centerville, MA - Ann Lou Ager Klope, 87, beloved wife of the recently deceased Joseph for 64 years and former resident of Clifton Park, NY and Akron, OH died peacefully December 6, 2011 in Centerville, MA after an extended illness.

A native of Troy, NY, she was pre-deceased by her parents C. Leonard J. Ager, Jr. and Helen Buchanan andgrandparents Dr. Archibald Buchanan and Harriet Mack of Troy, and Joel Wheeler Ager and Cora Anna Smithling of Port Leyden, NY.

A graduate of Emma Willard School '41 and Russell Sage College '45, she carried herself with elegance and a quiet faith that belied her passionate spirit and intellect for journalism, music and mathematics.

Ann Lou loved playing the piano, dancing with Joe to Big Band music, cheering the NY Yankees, completing dailycrossword puzzles and nurturing her family. She chose motherhood and family life over a career and proudly cherished her children Christine (Paul) Greeley of W. Yarmouth, MA, Susan Klope of New Rochelle, NY, Joanne(Daniel) Shamp of Fort Myers Beach, FL, Joseph C. Klope, Jr. (Margot) of Hillsdale, NJ and Aileen (Edwin)Niehaus of Brecksville, OH. Ann Lou was the adored "Gramma" of 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Susan (Dean) Armstrong of TN.

She was the keeper of the genealogy of her family as early settlers of NY State. She served as a Russell Sage Class Agent, and was a member of the Christ Community Church (Clifton Park), the Albany Yacht Club, and the DAR.

Calling hours at 1:00 p.m. and a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Bryce Funeral Home, 276 Pawling Avenue Troy. Interment to follow at Elmwood Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to McCarthy Care Center (her hospice provider), 73 Service Road, E.
