Angela Anthony DragottoJanuary 8, 2003
Poestenkill Angela Ann Dragotto, 79, of Plank Road, died peacefully while at home on Wednesday, January 8, 2003.
Born on November 9, 1923, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Anthony, she was a graduate of the Samaritan School of Nursing, a lifetime member of its Board of Nursing Alumni and the founder of Samaritan Hospital's ICU Unit as Head Nurse. Mrs. Dragotto throughout her dedicated nursing career won various awards such as "Nurse of the Year."
Mrs. Dragotto, during World War II, loyally served her country as a Nurse Cadet, was a devout member of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church in Wynantskill and always enjoyed a serious game of bingo. Mrs. Dragotto, like her father, also loved to fish.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Melanie Baker and her husband Barry, of Poestenkill; her two grand-daughters, Amy of Troy and Becky of Wynantskill; and her latest joy her great grandson, Brenden. Also survived by her brother, Joseph Anthony of Watervliet and nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Dorothy Cruden and Shirley Kotek, predeceased her.
Angela was a blessed person, who never thought of herself and was always driven to helping others in their need. For many years, she continuously served the community with her nursing skills and was forever a pillar of strength to her family.
Angela will be greatly missed by all who knew her and we welcome them to pay their respects on Sunday, January 12, 2003, from 2- 4 and 6-8pm at Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy. Funeral service will be held Monday January 13, 2003 at 8:30am at the funeral home and at 9:00am from St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
