Amy Amelia (Tulk) Harland

West Sand Lake - Amy Amelia Tulk Harland died peacefully on January 27, 2016 at the age of 76. She was in the company of her son, Christopher and daughter-in-law, Kathleen at Ludder’s Country Home in West Sand Lake, New York.

Amy was born on December 27, 1939 in New York City. Her parents were Arabella Sophie Butler Tulk and Reginald Gilbert Tulk. She had one brother, the Reverend John Fowlow Tulk. Amy grew up in South Ozone Park in Queens, New York. She received a bachelor degree in education from the State University of New York at Oneonta. Following college she worked for several years as an elementary school teacher in Spring Valley, New York.

Amy had three children: Jonathan Clark Harland (wife Jayleen Azcona Harland, daughter Nisha Azcona Harland), Christopher Lee Harland (wife Kathleen Sheehan Harland, son Lucas Tulk Harland, daughter Lauren Elizabeth Harland) and Elizabeth Anne Harland (husband John Hynes Horne, Jr.) Jonathan currently resides in Boston, MA, Christopher in Albany, NY and Elizabeth in New Orleans, LA.

After having children Amy worked for the remainder of her career as a teacher’s aide at Westorchard Elementary School in Chappaqua, New York and as a piano teacher in the community. She loved music, children, mystery novels, comedies, puzzles, games, animals, travel and the company of family and friends. She was an infinitely kind and generous person.

An event to celebrate Amy’s life will be held in the future. Instead of flowers, people are welcome to make a donation to the ASPCA or to Hospice care.
