Alice M. Shanks O`Connor, 73

Troy - Alice M. Shanks O`Connor, 73, of McKinley Avenue died June 2, 2008 at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Cambridge, NY she was daughter of the late Claude G. Shanks and Bessie M. Russell Shanks. She had resided in Troy and Cohoes most of her life and was a 1948 graduate of Troy High School.

Mrs. O'Connor worked for ACS collections in Albany for 8 years, retiring in 2005. Prior to that, she worked for S&H Green Stamps, Montgomery Ward, Key Bank and Bank of New York.

She was a former president of the PTA at Troy Public School #1, a Den Mother, Brownie leader and Elder at the United Church of Cohoes. An animal lover, she loved her dogs and cats.

Survivors include her children, Wendy Wehnau of Troy, Wanda J. (Joe) Stewart of Cohoes, Susan L. (Danny) Ellett of Nashua, NH and Nathan O`Connor of New York City; 8 grandchildren, Linda L. Bucholz, Wendy L. Sliter, Lorrin J. O'Connor, Blake R. Connery, Sara J. Roberts, Spencer A. Wehnau, Emily M. Ellett and Elsbeth J. Wehnau; 12 great grandchildren and 2 nephews. She was predeceased by son, Wayne J. O`Connor and brother, Harrison C. Shanks.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 9:00 AM at Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Nick Tebordo, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on June 05, 2008 from 4-8PM.

Interment will be in Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge, NY.
