Alice Hakes Gould

Alice H. Gould, 95

Schenectady - Alice H. Gould, 95, passed away into the arms of our Lord on September 8, 2008. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her life was devoted to her family and she was truly loved by all.

Alice was born November 28, 1912, in Grafton NY to the late Jay T. Hakes and Fannie M. Hakes.

Alice was the wife of the late Arthur L. Gould who passed away December 1994. They resided in Center Brunswick, NY all their married life. She was a beautician and he a barber. Alice retired from the State of NY, having worked in Tax and Finance for many years.

Alice loved to entertain and enjoyed playing cards.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail G. Heckeler (Kenneth) and three grandchildren: Jeffrey Vanier of West Palm Beach FL, Pamela DeMarco (Donald), of Rotterdam NY and Craig Vanier of Chester NH. She had four great-grand-children: Ryan DeMarco, Tyler DeMarco, Zachery Vanier and Lauren Vanier She is also survived by several nieces. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Thema Burdick, Mabel Keyes, Marion Goerald and Paul, Leslie and Lloyd Hakes.

We wish to thank the staff at Wynwood Assisted Living and also Home Instead for their good care of Alice.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 12 noon at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 11-12 prior to the service.
