Alice Emanatian, 92

COHOES Alice Emanatian, 92, died June 6, 2008 at the Cohoes Eddy Ford Nursing Home after a brief illness. Married in 1940, she was predeceased by her husband, George Emanatian in 2001, and brother George Shinorokian in 2000.

Born in New Britain, CT, she was the daughter of the late Habib and Roxie Shinorokian. She graduated from Reedley High School and moved with her family from Fresno, California to Troy

in 1938. In addition to working in the family business, Emanatian Fuel Service for 40 years, she worked at the Cohoes Price Chopper for 34 years, retiring on her 88th birthday. She worked as a volunteer in the gift shop at Cohoes Memorial Hospital/Eddy Ford Nursing Home for 44 years.

She was a member of the United Armenian Calvary Congregational Church, Troy, and was well known for planning and preparing many church dinners.

She is survived by her children, Helena Madison (John), Frederick, MD, Carolyn Emanatian and David Emanatian, Cohoes, and Dianne Dirig (Rodney), Otego, NY, and grandchildren, Maureen Madison, Chevy Chase, MD, Melissa Madison, New Windsor, MD, Mark and Michael Madison, Plattsburgh, NY, Daniel Watson, Placentia, CA, David Dirig, Silverdale, WA and Adam Dirig, Oneonta, NY. She is also survived by 10 great- grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy, on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 PM

Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.

Throughout her life, Alice unselfishly gave of her time, her energy and her love. In lieu of flowers, the family would like anyone wishing to remember her to perform an act of kindness for someone.
