Alfred F. Chenot

September 9, 1927 ~ October 27, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Albany - Alfred F. Chenot, 90, of Loudonville Road died Friday, October 27, 2017, at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was son of the late Felix Chenot and Alice Vachon Chenot and husband for 24 years of Carolyn Miller Chenot.  He had resided in North Greenbush for many years and since 1986 in Albany and was a graduate of Pawtucket, RI High School. 

Al was the founder and CEO of Greenbush Tape and Label and owned and operated three Jiff-E-Marts located in Averill Park, Schodack and North Greenbush.  He also owned VanDenHouten Square and many area apartments.

Al was an entrepreneur, a private pilot for many years and spent many hours flying with his wife.  He was, an Army veteran of the Korean War serving in intelligence in Germany and later a Navy veteran. Al was asked to speak at 2 University graduations. His favorite story was how he began his career setting pins at a bowling alley in Rhode Island at the age of 14.

Survivors in addition to wife include two sons, James (Janice) Chenot, Latham and William A. (Regina) Chenot, Castleton; his grandchildren, William A. (Kristin) Chenot Jr., Ryan (Elizabeth) Chenot, Patrick and Matthew Chenot, Caitlin (Kevin) Cehowski, Christie (C.J.) Gordon and Jordan C. Chenot; six great grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Cole, Ava Cehowski, Torin Chenot, and Cooper and Audrey Chenot and nieces and nephews, Bobby, David and Nathan Chenot and Robin (Mark) Ovsag; a sister-in-law, Wanda Chenot and Theresa, the mother of his children. Carolyn’s daughters, April VonBorstel and JoAnn (Paul) Lionarons and their children, Jason Kramer, Walter and Kirstin VonBorstel, Brittni (Nicholas) Ottati, Morgan  and Joshua Lionarons and 5 step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Chenot.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 4-7PM with a service to follow at 7PM with Rev. Joseph Auslander. 

Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church 107 State Street Albany with Rev. Paul A. Hartt, Rector, officiating.

Interment will be in  Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Alfred F. Chenot to The Community Hospice (Gift Processing Center) 310 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
